During the 19th century, Monday was the day for washing clothes. I've often wondered how chores were assigned to certain days....apparently, doing laundry the old-fashioned way involved lots of hand-scrubbing, hauling water, and carrying heavy wet clothing out to a clothesline to be hung. Monday was the obvious choice for such hard labor because the women were well rested after Sunday. Here at Robin's Egg Studio, wash day falls on any old day of the week, and sometimes
every day of the week when things are getting really out of hand. I do appreciate my electric washer and dryer each time I use them. I have never had a clothesline of my own but I know that the smell of air-dried sheets and clothing are supposed to be irresistible! Perhaps someday when our back yard is more secluded, we can try it.

Yeah, I really don't think I would have been well suited to the 'olden days'! I like electricity too much! I've never had a dryer, but I don't mind hanging things out =)
I've had a laundry line and while the sheets smell wonderful, they're stiff as a board when you take them in. Lovely drawing. I really like your use of color.
Well we always had a washer and dryer at home but my mother would and still likes to hang out her sheets the smell is so good. We do all thank God for our washers and dryers it's funny the newer house of course these days don't have a clothes line in the backyard that's what I grew up with.
