In Love

....with The Civil Wars. It is so typically work-from-home-mom-ish of me to have first heard their music on VH1, while folding my laundry. Specifically it was the video for "Barton Hollow" which is completely mesmerizing. Their bluesy folk style has a stark desperation to it. "Barton Hollow," along with some of their other songs, is emotionally wrenching. To watch them interact, either in a video or performing in front of an audience, is really interesting. She looks like a young Dana Delany and he is a dead ringer for Johnny Depp -- the scruffier version. He is intent to concentrate on his guitar playing most of the time, while she cozies up to him with so much intensity that you are sure they have a passionate connection both on stage and off. In fact, I was sure they were a couple until I read differently! Hmm.......
